Does it get any more Chicago than this?
Chance the Rapper is expected to headline a concert Sept. 5 in Grant Park just before the NFL’s 100th season opener at Soldier Field, where the Chicago Bears will take on their biggest rivals the Green Bay Packers.
Bears Chairman George McCaskey announced the news Sunday, even giving a nod to the rapper’s namesake reptile, which became a celebrity of its own in the city month.
“Got the concert in Grant Park – Chance the Rapper,” he said. “We’ll see if Chance the Snapper is going to show up, make a guest appearance.”
Although no official announcements have been made, the concert isn’t expected to be the only event celebrating the 100th season opener in Grant Park. The NFL has not said what exactly the other festivities will be, but the Chicago Tribune reports there may also be a watch party and admission is expected to be free.
