Chicago Blackhawks Fans Skeptical About Team's Direction, Survey Says

The Blackhawks missed the playoffs last season for the first time in 10 years

The Chicago Blackhawks are trying to retool ahead of the upcoming season, but fans aren’t exactly optimistic about the direction of the franchise.

According to a survey conducted by The Athletic, in which over 2,000 NHL fans participated, the Blackhawks are trending in the wrong direction, with the team ranking 25th on a list of how confident each team’s fanbase is.

Fans are somewhat optimistic about the way the team is drafting, ranking them in 16th in the league, but in overall roster building and trading, the team checks in near the bottom of NHL franchises, ranking in the bottom five.

According to the survey, which was formerly conducted by The Hockey News, a vast majority of fans have less confidence in Stan Bowman’s stewardship of the roster than they did last season.

Tampa Bay Lightning fans are most confident in the direction of their team, followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators.

Fans of the Ottawa Senators are the most pessimistic in the NHL, according to the survey results.
