Chicago Blackhawks' Names Engraved on Stanley Cup

In one of the best traditions in sports, the Chicago Blackhawks’ names have been engraved onto the Stanley Cup in honor of their 2015 championship.

The Hawks, who have won the Cup three times in the last six seasons, have 27 players included on the Cup, including the retired Daniel Carcillo, whom the team petitioned to have included on the Cup, and Kimmo Timonen.

The Blackhawks also petitioned to have forward Joakim Nordstrom included on the Stanley Cup, but one curious absence on the list was former goaltender Antti Raanta, who was traded to the New York Rangers in the offseason. He didn’t automatically warrant an appearance on the Cup based on the number of games he dressed for, but the team didn’t choose to petition to include him along with Carcillo and Nordstrom.

There was also some question as to why the name of equipment manager Clint Reif, who passed away during the season, was left off the Stanley Cup.
