The Chicago Blackhawks’ playoff hopes are rapidly dwindling, and they could be eliminated from postseason contention as early as Monday night.
The Blackhawks, who are currently six points behind the Colorado Avalanche with four games left to play, will take on the Winnipeg Jets at the United Center on Monday night. They will need to win that game, as well as their final three games after that, to have any shot of reaching the postseason.
If they end up losing the game, and if the Avalanche win their game against the St. Louis Blues, then the Blackhawks would be eliminated from playoff contention for the second year in a row.
The Blackhawks are six points behind the Avalanche in the wild card race, and trail the Arizona Coyotes by three points. The Minnesota Wild are also in the mix at 81 points, but their playoff hopes are also fading quickly.
The Blackhawks will start a three-game homestand on Monday night against the Jets. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
