Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was forced to exit Sunday’s game against the Colorado Rockies after he was struck in the head by a pitch.
The incident occurred in the first inning of the game when a pitch from German Marquez went inside on Bryant, striking him on the bill of his helmet. The ball also appeared to glance off Bryant’s sunglasses and face, and trainers immediately rushed to his aid:
Later in the game, the Cubs announced that Bryant had suffered a small laceration above his eye from his sunglasses, but that he has passed all concussion tests thus far.
Bryant left the game because of the incident, and David Bote came in to replace him at third base.
