Chicago Gourmet Announces Chefs Graham Elliot and Matthias Merges to Host ‘Grand Cru'

The exclusive event will take place from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30

Who needs wine and cheese when you can have wine and food from some of Chicago’s top chefs?

Some of the best chefs in the Second City will be dishing out specially curated foods to pair with wines from around the world as part of a “Grand Cru” at this year’s Chicago Gourmet, organizers announced.

The event, sponsored by United Healthcare, will be co-hosted by “Top Chef” judge Graham Elliot and Folkart Restaurant Management Chef Matthias Merges. The two have designed a “playlist where each participating chef will be assigned a song that will inspire the dish served,” according to organizers.

The exclusive event will take place from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30 at the Harris Theater Rooftop. A full list of participating chefs has not yet been released.

Chicago Gourmet, billed as “a concert of culinary delights,” runs Sept. 28-30.

A one-day pass goes for $195 before fees and a weekend pass runs $310.

“Grand Cru” packages, which include the high-end wine tasting, are available at $205 per day and weekend travel packages go for $1,360-$1,999. Tickets are available here.
