It might not come as a big surprise for Chicago-area commuters, but the Windy City is apparently one of the worst cities in the country for drivers, according to a new report.
Personal finance website WalletHub released a list of 2015’s “Best & Worst Cities to Be a Driver” and Chicago made the top 10.
The city ranked at no. 8 with above-average ratings for average annual hours of traffic delays, accident likelihood, car thefts, average gas prices, autoshop maintenance costs and average parking rates.
The study compared the 100 most-populated cities in the nation on criteria like average gas prices, average annual traffic delays and car clubs per capita.
The worst city for drivers, according to the study, was New York, followed by Washington D.C., Philadelphia, San Francisco, Detroit, Newark and Boston.
The best city for drivers was Lubbock, Texas. Also among the best cities were Corpus Christi, Texas; Lincoln, Nebraska; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Tucson, Arizona.
