Chicago police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in the city’s Lawndale neighborhood on Saturday night, authorities said.
According to a police department spokesman, the shooting occurred in the 1100 block of South Whipple on Saturday evening.
According to an account provided by police, officers were interacting with large crowds in the 1100 block of South Whipple when they saw a man drinking in a parking lot.
As officers approached the man, he fled into an alley, and when officers pursued him, shots were fired toward the officers. CPD officers then returned fire, striking the man.
He was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
