The Competition: Will Guzzardi
The Buzz: Toni Berrios comes from a powerful Machine family. The four-term legislator calls Cook County Assessor and Democratic Party boss Joseph Berrios "Dad." She's running for her 5th term, but is facing some competition from former Huffington Post associate editor Will Guzzardi. Guzzardi decided to hop into the race after watching Berrios fight through a close race against a Green Party candidate in 2010. Berrios, who's been in the State House since 2003, sits on seven boards, including the Consumer Protection board that she chairs.
