A Chicago Catholic priest was arrested Monday on charges of assaulting a Colorado boy 10 years ago.
Father Richard James Kurtz, 67, faces two felony charges of Sexual Assault on a child by one in a possession of trust.
Kurtz, who works at the Society of Jesus Chicago-Detroit Province on North Clark Street, is accused of assaulting the boy when he worked as a chemistry teacher in Detroit at the time of the alleged assault, but the crime reportedly occurred in a suburb of Denver.
Kurtz was arrested by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force. He is being held on $100,000 bond and is awaiting an extradition hearing.
