Kids hoping for a second straight snow day at Chicago Public Schools will be disappointed, as the district will be open for classes Monday.
School children were given a reprieve on Friday as heavy snow hammered the Chicago-area. Some areas saw more than a foot of snow fall between Thursday night and Saturday evening, and with sunshine in the forecast for the start of the week, school will be back in session.
The snow also caused thousands of flight cancellations at the city's airports, snarled traffic, and led to numerous closures of government and private offices throughout the area.
