More thunderstorms could strike the Chicago area as another hot, humid weekend kicks off.
Saturday's temperatures are expected to surge into the upper 80s with heat indices hitting the low to mid-90s.
The weather will remain dry until a cold front passes through in the afternoon, bringing a chance for isolated showers or storms. Most of the storms will likely move south and east of the Chicago area, but the ones that develop could become strong or severe, producing heavy rain, gusty winds and hail.
Any showers or storms will likely pass through the Chicago area in the evening, with dry conditions expected overnight.
Temperatures may drop to the 70s near the lakefront in the evening hours due to the cold front, but they will heat up again on Sunday with a high of 85 degrees.
The heat will stick around for the rest of the week, with highs reaching the upper 80s and even 90 degrees on Wednesday. As the heat continues to scorch the Chicago area, chances for thunderstorms will also continue periodically throughout the week.
