Chicagoan Wins “The Voice” Battle Round

Jesse Campbell was once homeless, but now he's rising to fame thanks to "The Voice"

Jesse Campbell is the first out of three Chicago-area contestants to sing his way to a win on "The Voice."

Phase two of the NBC show began Monday night with coaches pitting their team members against each other in dueling duets.

He battled it out against Anthony Evans by singing the song "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys.

Campbell came out a winner on Christina Aguilera's team.

The 42-year-old singer grew up in Maywood but moved to California to pursue his musical career. After moving there, he and his daughter lived in his car after his wife left him.

The battle round on "The Voice" will continue next Monday at 7 p.m. on NBC 5.
