The Chicago area is experiencing its first snowfall of the season, and officials are beginning to issue reports on just how much snow has fallen.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until Thursday afternoon throughout the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service. A wind advisory will also remain in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.
