The Cook County Sheriff's Office has released video Wednesday of a fight that broke out Tuesday night in the Cook County Jail that left two officers and eight inmates injured.
Those hurt during the melee were taken from the maximum security division of the jail to area hospitals after multiple fights broke out in the facility, Chicago fire and sheriff's office officials confirmed Tuesday night.
Multiple injuries were reported, including stab and puncture wounds, and several ambulances had been dispatched to the facility, officials said.
"None of the injuries appear to be serious. A correctional deputy was struck with a food tray, thrown during a fight," said Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff's Office, in an email. "The deputy is being evaluated, but was not seriously injured."
Officials later said a total of two jail staff members were struck by food trays.
“Two correctional deputies, who were struck by food trays, were also transported on Tuesday night to area hospitals for treatment for nonlife threatening injuries,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “One deputy has been treated and released, and the other remains in the hospital for observation.”
Three of the detainees transported were treated and released. Five remain at area hospitals for observation and others were treated onsite at the jail, officials said.

The injured were transported to St. Anthony, Mt. Sinai and Stroger from the jail, officials said.
Asked at Wednesday's Cook County Board meeting if the attacks were coordinated or planned by inmates to distract staff, Chief Security and Intelligence Officer Brad Curry said he did not have a definitive answer.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating the cause of the fights as well as the source of the weapons used.
