The driver of a tractor-trailer was struck and killed by another truck while taking photos to document a minor crash with a car in Chicago’s Noble Square neighborhood near the Kennedy Expressway. Mike Lorber reports for the NBC 5 NEWS TODAY on April 23, 2014.

The driver of a tractor-trailer was struck and killed by another truck Thursday morning while taking photos to document a minor crash with a car in Chicago's Noble Square neighborhood.

The driver, a man thought to be in his 30s, was taking pictures about 6:30 a.m. after a minor collision with a car in the 1300 block of West Division Street near the Kennedy Expressway, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

As he was taking photos, he was struck by a large truck, Langford said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not confirm the fatality as of 7:45 a.m.

The woman driving the car involved in the original minor crash was not hurt, but she was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center for evaluation, he said. The driver of the large truck was not injured and stayed at the scene.

Illinois State Police shut down both north and southbound Division Street ramps as a result of the crash, police said. The ramps were not expected to reopen for up to three hours.

The police department's Major Accidents Investigations Unit was investigating the crash.
