Some Red Line Trains Back on Normal Tracks After Earlier Fire

CTA Red Line trains in both directions were running on elevated tracks between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown Stations due to a minor fire at track level but 95th-bound trains have since resumed normal routing , according to the transit agency.

After stopping at Fullerton, 95th-bound trains were diverted and stop at:

  • Armitage;
  • Sedgwick;
  • Chicago;
  • Merchandise Mart;
  • Clark/Lake;
  • State/Lake;
  • Washington/Wabash;
  • Adams/Wabash; and
  • Roosevelt.

Normal routes will resume at Cermak-Chinatown, the CTA said.

Howard-bound trains will stop at the same stations in the opposite order before reaching Fullerton and resuming normal service to Howard.

The service disruption was announced at 3:24 p.m.
