New photo renderings have been released for the future arena for the DePaul University Blue Demons.
The university first offered a glimpse into the planned arena’s design, featuring 10,000 seats, 22 suites and 300 club seats, last year.
The McCormick Place Events Center is part of a major development plan for McCormick Place.
The city aims to give tourists and residents more reasons to visit the McCormick Place entertainment district with plans to build $140 million worth of new facilities including two hotels and the new arena that will be the home court for the university as well as an expected draw for trade shows and concerts.
The arena will serve as the centerpiece of the new events center and will feature 10,000 seats, 22 suites and 300 club seats. The center is projected to be a hub for the City of Chicago and its sister agencies to use for graduations, athletic contests and other city events.
Faculty, however, have opposed the deal claiming it is "wildly out of line with other university priorities.
Newly released images of the arena include photos of a sports bar and restaurant as well as the location of an adjoining hotel.

The facility is expected to open for the 2016-2017 season, officials said.
