No Injuries After Fire Reported at Glenbrook South High School, Officials Say

A fire was reported at suburban Glenbrook South High School on Thursday afternoon, with no injuries reported in its aftermath, according to officials.

The fire was reported in the school's wood shop just before dismissal time at 3 p.m., officials said. A fire alarm was triggered, and students and faculty evacuated the building safely, with no injuries reported.

Firefighters determined that students and faculty should not reenter the building, and school was dismissed for the day.

Students will be allowed to retrieve their belongings once the fire department clears the school, officials said.

All home athletic games set to start before 6 p.m. have been canceled for the day, and a scheduled band concert has also been canceled.

Students who required buses to get home were told to head to the stadium parking lot for pick-up, while those requiring rides from parents were free to leave campus, according to officials.

Officials are asking parents not to come to the campus unless they are picking their children up, and no one is being allowed into the building at this time.
