Elizabeth "Lally" Daley, the youngest daughter of former Mayor Richard Daley, wed her college sweetheart and longtime boyfriend during an intimate ceremony Thursday.
She was reportedly escorted down the aisle by both of her parents while wearing the same gown her mother, Maggie Daley, wore when she got married in 1972.
"She looks like a young Maggie in it," longtime Daley spokeswoman Jackie Heard said of the new bride.
Originally scheduled as an engagement party in advance of a New Year's Eve wedding ceremony, the family decided to make the event the wedding itself to ensure Maggie Daley could fully participate in the festivities. The former first lady for years has been battling cancer.
"Maggie looks amazing, considering," said Heard.
The groom, Sam Hotchkiss, is described as a Southerner who works in the insurance industry.
The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Spiagga, at 980 North Michigan Avenue. Father Jack Wall officiated.
About 100 guests attended the silver and plum-colored event, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, his wife, Amy Rule, as well as Lally Daley's uncle, Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley, and former White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers.
"They're two great young people, so we're excited," said another proud uncle, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley. "Lally's a terrific young lady. She really works with kids with autism, and she's a terrific person, and so is Sam, so we're really happy.
Thursday is also Lally Daley's 28th birthday.
