Emanuel to Announce Expansion of Second Chance Program

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is set to announce on Tuesday plans to expand the CTA’s Second Chance Program for ex-offenders.

The city said in a release that the program is set to expand with a partnership between the CTA and City Colleges of Chicago. The network of institutions will offer skill development and career training for participants of the program.

The program has helped more than 600 men and women find jobs, according to the city. Members of the group include nonviolent ex-offenders and victims of abuse.

The program provides 265 jobs with responsibilities such as cleaning and detail for the CTA’s rail cars and buses, as well as station platforms and bus and rail yards, according to the city.
