One Killed, Four Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash in Englewood

Three additional people refused medical treatment on the scene

Five people were injured, three critically, in a three-car crash in Englewood early Sunday morning. One person has since died.

One person was killed and four people were injured early Sunday in a three-vehicle crash in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

A Ford Mustang, Chevrolet and Nissan all collided at about 4:50 a.m. near West 71st Street and South Wentworth Avenue, according to preliminary information from police.

One passenger of the Mustang was ejected from the car and taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Another passenger in the Mustang was airlifted from the crash in critical condition to Christ Medical Center. The driver, whose condition had stabilized, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, police said.

One of the passengers in the Mustang has died, Chicago Fire officials said.

Two occupants from the Chevrolet were also taken to Christ Medical Center, both in fair condition, police said.

Three people that were in the Nissan refused medical treatment on the scene, police said.
