An abandoned railway on Chicago's Northwest side will finally be transformed after getting the money it needed.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday will announce the final $9 million was raised to construct the Bloomingdale Trail, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Sun-Times reports donations from Boeing Co. and CNA, as well as taxpayer money from the Chicago Park District, will cover the rest of the costs needed to begin construction next year.
The trail will run east and west from Elston to Central between Armitage and North, and will include bicycling and pedestrian paths, according to the Sun-Times.
The project, which costs about $46 million, is expected to be completed by 2014.
