Authorities in northwest Indiana were investigating whether a triple shooting that left three people dead at a Griffith home was a murder-suicide, the Lake County Sheriff's Department said Friday.
Sheriff's officials said at around 3:35 p.m, the department was investigating a fatal shooting at a home in the 600 block of Colfax Street. Officers arrived and found three men who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds, police said. Two of the victims were pronounced deceased, while a third was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The thid person later died from their injuries at a local hospital, police said.
Law enforcement said officers secured the scene and that there wasn't an existing threat to anyone in the area.
Footage captured by Sky 5, which was over the scene Friday afternoon, showed a number of police vehicles along Colfax Street and a driveway that had been blocked off with crime scene tape.
Sheriff's department detectives were investigating several factors surrounding the shooting, including if the incident was a murder-suicide, officials said Friday evening.
