Heather Mack Could Be Released From Prison Within Next 2 Years: Report

Mack is in her fifth year of a 10-year prison sentence for killing her mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack, in 2014

The Chicago woman convicted of murdering her mother at a Bali hotel and stuffing her body in a suitcase said she could be released from prison in 18 months, according to a published report.

Heather Mack, 23, told DailyMailTV that if she’s released next year for good behavior and parole, she will not return home to the United States or Chicago with her 4-year-old daughter, Stella. Mack said her daughter is "more Indonesian than American" and has a good life in Bali.

"The people are nicer and it’s better and safer than back home," Mack told DailyMailTV. "Back there I was getting in with a bad crowd."

Mack is in her fifth year of a 10-year prison sentence for killing her mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack, in 2014. Mack’s then-boyfriend, Tommy Schaeffer, was also convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Stella is currently being raised outside of the prison by a local Balinese-Australian woman.
