More than 1,000 flights were canceled in Chicago Friday as storms burst through the area.
As of 10 p.m., O'Hare International Airport reported 976 flight cancellations and Midway Airport reported another 153. Delays of nearly an hour and a half were also reported at O'Hare.
Rain moved into the area late Friday morning, continued through the afternoon and brought severe storms through portions of the Chicago area during the late evening hours.
A Flash Flood Watch was issued for portions of Illinois and northwest Indiana and remains in effect through late Friday evening. Counties included in the watch were Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle and Will counties in Illinois and Benton, Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties in Indiana.

The remainder of the weekend could see more rain with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-60s Saturday before rebound into the 70s again Sunday and back into the 80s for Monday.
