A crash involving a school bus in the Chicago suburbs Monday afternoon left one person injured, the Illinois State Police said.

The crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 290 near I-390 in Cook County, ISP said.

According to the Mount Prospect Park District, a total of 55 children were on a field trip to the Enchanted Castle in suburban Lombard when the crash occurred. Seven adult administrators were also on board at the time, state police said.

One adult was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. No children were hospitalized following the crash, according to school district officials.

A shuttle van was arranged to transport children from the scene, while a school bus brought most of the children back to the park district, according to officials.
