Lamborghini Collides With CPD Vehicle on Near North Side

A high speed crash involving a Lamborghini and a makred Chicago Police car shut down the DuSable Bridge early Saturday morning.

A police officer was sent to a hospital after a Lamborghini crashed into his squad car Saturday on the Near North Side.

About 3:56 a.m., the officer was traveling east in a marked vehicle in the 400 block of North Michigan Avenue when the southbound Lamborghini flew through a red light and hit the driver’s side of the police car, Chicago police said.

The officer was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released, police said.

The collision wiped out a traffic light on the Michigan Avenue Bridge, and the bridge was closed to traffic as crews attempted to reinstall it and clear the scene.

Police were seen talking to a man in the back of a police vehicle as officers investigated. They took the handcuffed man out of the vehicle and released him.

The driver of the Lamborghini was issued two citations, police said.
