The Chicago area could soon see the threat of strong-to-severe thunderstorms, as several watches and warnings have been issued this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Grundy, Will and Kankakee counties in Illinois, along with all of northern Indiana.

Gusty winds in excess of 60 miles per hour are possible, along with quarter-size hail and isolated tornadoes, officials warn.
