Man Shot to Death in Wicker Park While Sitting on Front Porch

The man was struck in the chest and shoulder

A 34-year-old man was fatally shot in the Wicker Park neighborhood early Saturday.

He was sitting on the front porch of a home with two other people at about 1:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Pierce when someone walked up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

He was struck in the chest and shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Gaines said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but no other details were released.
