Man Stabbed Near Art Institute of Chicago

A person of interest was being questioned Wednesday, police said

A 57-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing near the Art Institute late Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The stabbing happened around 4:45 p.m. in the 100 block of East Monroe Street in Chicago’s Loop.

Chicago Police News Affairs said the man was stabbed in the neck and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

A person of interest was being questioned Wednesday, police said.

Crime tape was seen inside the South Garden of the Art Institute campus and the three entrances to the garden were closed as police investigated.  

Charges were pending Thursday against a 29-year-old man suspected in the stabbing, police said.
