Police were interviewing "individuals in regard to" a missing pregnant teenager from Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood Tuesday, authorities said.
Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui had not been located, police said, but there were talking to people as part of the ongoing investigation into what happened to the 19-year-old last seen in the 2000 block of South California Avenue.
Police were canvassing near a house in the Ashburn neighborhood where witnesses told NBC 5 officers took four people away earlier in the afternoon near 77th and Karlov. The scene is just down the street from where the missing teen's car was recently found. Later that same day, another neighbor said her mother-in-law saw the woman who lives there come out with a baby.
One neighbor, who did not want to be identified told NBC she saw a pregnant woman walk into the home police were near before her dissapearance. They later recognized her as Ochoa-Uriostegui.
Chicago Fire Department confirms paramedics transported a baby from here around that same time in critical condition.
“The woman came out screaming that her baby was born in the house and that she wasn’t breathing," the neighbor said.
Relatives of Ochoa-Uriostegui spoke last week at a news conference at a church on Chicago's Northwest Side.
"I think that we're convinced now that there's some wrongdoing here, that this is not somebody that just disappeared," Rev. Walter Coleman said at the time.
"This is somebody that we believe is being held and we hope that she's alright," he continued, adding, "We believe that Marlen is still alive. We will find out hopefully in the next few days if this newborn baby was actually part of the family."
She was last seen leaving the Latino Youth High School in the Little Village neighborhood, where she had been taking classes, on April 23.
She was supposed to pick up her 3-year-old son from daycare that afternoon but her family said she never showed up. Ochoa-Uriostegui was nine months pregnant with her second child when she was reported missing.
Ochoa-Uriostegui was described as an Hispanic woman, standing at 5'3" and weighing around 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, as well as a distinctive nose ring, according to the alert issued by police.
She was last seen wearing a gray sweater and sweatpants with a maroon top bearing the Latino Youth High School logo, officials said. Ochoa-Uriostegui may be driving a black Honda Civic, license plate number AW27865, according to police.
