Chicago Bears fans may have noticed the extra facial hair that quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been sporting lately, and head coach Matt Nagy shed some light on the situation.
Trubisky, whose Bears are now in the postseason, has been growing out his beard along with the rest of the Bears’ quarterbacks, and Nagy has some theories on who has the best beard, and who is cheating.
“They’re doing this thing where they’re not allowed to trim it,” he said. “Chase (Daniel) is definitely cheating, Mitch’s is just kind of there, and Tyler (Bray) just looks Amish.”
Trubisky was asked about the beard after practice on Wednesday, and he detailed the rules that the Bears are following.
“The quarterbacks and (QB coach) Dave Ragone are included. I had a trim before the first game, and I haven’t touched it since,” he said. “You can (line up the edges) but you can’t trim it.”
Clearly the beards are coming in handy, as the Bears have won seven of their last eight games and have clinched the NFC North title for the first time in nearly a decade.
When asked if he would participate in the beard growing fun, Nagy immediately dismissed the idea.

“I can show you a scary photo from when I did the playoff beard two years ago, and I’m not doing it again,” he said with a laugh.
