More than 3,000 ComEd customers are currently without power as a spring blast of wintry weather hits the area.
A vast majority of the outages are occurring in Cook County, according to the utility’s website. Approximately 2,524 customers in the county are currently without power, down from the nearly 3,500 that were in the dark earlier Sunday at the height of the inclement weather.
Just under 300 customers in Kane County are without power, the utility says.
The outages come as a strong winter system moves through the area. Over eight inches of snow have been reported in some locations, and parts of Chicago were hit with four or more inches in what could be a record-setting snowfall when all is said and done.
