An "all clear" has been given by authorities after a bomb threat was made to Naperville North High School on Wednesday, canceling classes and after-school activities and closing the school building for the day.
"Police have determined there is no threat to the safety of our Naperville North students and staff, and that the building is safe," a spokesperson for Naperville Community School District 203 said in a statement.
While all classes and activities will resume as normal on Thursday, an investigation continues with local and federal authorities to determine the nature of the threat, the district's spokesperson said.
According to the district, the bomb threat was received by the principal of Naperville North High School this morning. Leaders at the school and District 203 notified the Naperville Police Department and removed students and staff from the building.
"With the safety and security of our students being our top priority, all individuals in the building were relocated and students were reunified with their families," the district spokesperson said. "The Naperville Police Department, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, conducted a thorough search of the building throughout the day and has now provided an 'all clear,' following the determination that the building is safe."
Earlier in the day, the city of Naperville confirmed the police department was "actively investigating" the threat made Wednesday morning against the school.
"Please note that school was not in session at the time the threat was reported and there are no students or staff in the building as we conduct our investigation," the city said in a statement.
