The Great Lakes Naval Base in Lake County has returned to normal operations following a report of a "troubled individual" on the campus.
A public information officer said the report came in at 1:45 p.m. and the Recruit Training Command, where boot camp is located, was placed on lockdown.
John Sheppard, public affairs officer for Naval Station Great Lakes, said a sweep of the area was conducted and the person was not located.
According to the station’s social media accounts, Gate 6 of the Recruitment Training Center was secured around 2:20 p.m. The base had returned to normal operations about 30 minutes later.
