Calling all talented performers, 18 years or older: "The Glee Project 2" is looking for rising stars to audition for the cast of "Glee."
Open casting auditions for "The Glee Project," a reality show singing competition, continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at McCormick Place in Chicago. About 1,300 hopefuls from across the country showed up at Sunday's casting call, hoping to snag a spot on "Glee," according to local reports.
Casting directors are looking for performers with strong vocal, acting and dancing abilities with big personalities. Musical theater experience is not necessary, they say, but a plus.
Singers must prepare 16 bars a capella from two songs on the audition songs list, including "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga, "Drops of Jupiter" by Train and "Ordinary People" by John Legend. After the open audition, performers selected for callbacks will get a call to move on to the finals round.
The show is also accepting video submissions online, to be watched by casting director Robert Ulrich.
After this week's auditions, open casting calls continue in Nashville and New York City.
Oxygen Media has not made an official announcement that "The Glee Project" has been picked up for a second season as "Glee" has not officially been picked up for Season Four.
