A Chicago chain has been named the best fast casual restaurant in the country, according to TripAdvisor.
The travel company released its 2018 Travelers’ Choice Awards, recognizing 75 restaurants in the U.S. in categories like fine dining, everyday dining and fast casual dining.
Portillo’s was dubbed the best fast casual restaurant based on the quantity and quality of reviews in the last 12 months.
“We are honored to receive this award,” Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo said in a statement. “It’s a true testament to our hard-working restaurant team members and our passionate fans. We’re thrilled our guests think Portillo’s truly cuts the mustard.”
TripAdvisor said it defined fast casual as “restaurants that offer high-quality meals at a great value to diners on the go.”
Other restaurants to make the top 10 in the category included Earl of Sandwich, Shake Shack, Blaze Pizza, In-N-Out Burger, The Taco Stand, Five Guys, Super Duper Burgers, Tacos el Gordo and Torchy’s Tacos.
Other Chicago restaurants listed in the Traveler's Choice were The Purple Pig, which was named 15th-best everyday dining restaurant, Alinea, named 19th-best fine dining restaurant, and Bavette's Bar and Boeuf, listed as the 25th top fine dining restaurant.
