Rahm Aide Resigns Due to Ethics Violation

Just days after the election, Rahm Emanuel has lost a key aide.

The Chicago Tribune reports that mayoral campaign co-chair Judy Erwin resigned her post on his transition team because of an ethics violation.

Erwin used office resources when she was executive director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education while working on Barack Obama's presidential campaign, along with planning a trip to the 2008 Democratic National Convention and engaging in campaign fundraising activity while on the job, the newspaper reported. She paid a $4,000 fine and agreed to never work for the state again

Erwin told the Tribune that neither Emanuel nor his campaign knew about the ethics violation before Friday.

A Rahm spokesman told the newspaper that the incoming mayor will "continue to consult her public policy knowledge."
