Rolling Meadows Police Search for Suspect in Sexual Assault, Home Invasion

Rolling Meadows Police say that there could be a rapist on the loose after another sexual assault was reported this weekend, and they are urging residents to be vigilant. NBC 5’s Jorge DeSantiago reports.

Authorities are searching for a suspect in a home invasion and sexual assault that took place in suburban Rolling Meadows.

A man knocked on the door of a home in the area of Algonquin Pkwy and W. Algonquin Rd. in the early morning hours of July 1, according to a community alert from Rolling Meadows police.

When the victim opened the door, the offender forced himself inside and sexually assaulted the resident, authorities said.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect, describing him as a Hispanic man, standing between 5’ and 5’1” in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds. [[433326983, C]]

Two similar incidents occurred in the area seven months prior, though police did not say whether they believe those attacks were committed by the same person as Saturday’s assault.

On Dec. 28, police said a man entered an apartment in the 5000 Block of Weber Dr. through an unlocked and partially open bedroom window while the victim was sleeping around 6:45 a.m.

He then demanded money from the victim, authorities said, but fled through the window when a man who also lived in the apartment walked into the room.

A few weeks later on Jan. 14, a man armed with a knife knocked on the door of an apartment in the 4800 block of Algonquin Pkwy around 6:30 a.m. and sexually assaulted the woman who answered the door, according to police.

Victims in both incidents described a Hispanic man with a medium complexion and medium build, standing roughly 5’ to 5’3” tall and weighing around 160 pounds. [[411126475, C]]

Authorities have urged residents to use extreme caution in the wake of last Saturday’s attack, advising against opening the door before verifying who’s outside and asking that anyone who sees a suspicious person call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call the Rolling Meadows police crime tip hotline at 847-506-6024, or the crime stoppers hotline at 847-590-7867.

Tips can remain anonymous and officials are offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
