‘Saturday Night Live' Exhibition Extends Its Run in Chicago

“Saturday Night Live” has been a part of pop culture for decades, and at time even been at the center of politics – now, it’s the center of a new exhibit at Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast communications. Kye Martin reports.

Live from Chicago, it's Saturday night - for a few more months.

The "Saturday Night Live: The Experience" exhibition's run at the Museum of Broadcast Communications has been extended for several more months, the museum announced Wednesday.

The 12,000-square-foot exhibition offering a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic NBC sketch comedy show will remain in Chicago through March 19, 2019, according to a statement from the museum.

Presented by Conagra, the exhibition opened at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in October 2017, aiming to “chronicle the history of NBC’s iconic franchise while taking visitors through its notoriously hectic weekly schedule.”

Among the features are replicas of the office of executive producer Lorne Michaels, the writers room, control room, original sets, costumes, props, scripts and hundreds of other artifacts - as well as a full-scale replica recreation of Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, the show’s longtime New York home.

Chicago is the second stop on a national tour of the exhibition. Tickets are available on the exhibition's website with prices ranging between $20-25.

"SNL" is currently in its 44th season.
