President Barack Obama at a news conference Tuesday said security was not a concern surrounding the sudden move of the G8 Summit from Chicago to Camp David.
Obama said he has faith in Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city of Chicago to pull off the NATO summit, pointing to the city's handling of Taste of Chicago and Lollapalooza (though he flubbed the pronunciation of the latter).
"I'm sure your new mayor will be quite attentive to detail in making sure everything goes off well," he said.
Quoting the statement he sent out Monday regarding the move, Obama said the summit was switched so world leaders could "enjoy being in a more casual backdrop."
He said he also was reminded after the summit's initial organizing that Obama hadn't yet hosted any of his counterparts at Camp David. "Weather should be good that time of year," he said.
But not to worry, Chicago is still getting NATO.
"We're still going to be showing up with a bunch of world leaders," Obama said.
