What's better than a slip-and-slide in the middle of summer? Three giant, 300-foot slip-and-slides in the middle of Montrose Beach.
"Slide the City," known for bringing blocks-long slicked slides to cities across the country, lays down three padded slip-and-slides on July 30 on Cricket Hill at the North Side beach in Chicago.
Tickets can be purchased online for a few or unlimited rides on the slides.
Individual tickets range between $18 for two slides and $30 tickets for unlimited rides, both during a chosen "wave time." The $100 Friends & Family pack is good for unlimited rides for four people during a specified time, and a $75 ticket gets you unlimited slides all day.
Early bird and regular registration for some tickets are already sold out.
All attendees are lent an inflated tube and given a drawstring bag with a mouth guard. Tubes can be purchased for $2. Participants must be over 46 inches tall and at least 5 years old.
Appropriate swimwear and shoes are required. “Slide the City” suggests bringing money for food trucks and merchandise. Parking is available near Cricket Hill.
Can't make it to Chicago? A "Slide the City" giant slip-and-slide is coming to Carpentersville, on Maple Avenue between Rosewood and Tamarac Drive on July 23.
