Truck Carrying Thousands of Gallons of Fuel Catches Fire on I-90

A semi-truck carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel burst into flames early Sunday on Interstate 90, near Rosemont.

Crews responded to eastbound I-90 near Interstate 294 at 1:12 a.m. and found the truck rolled over, “engulfed” in flames, Illinois State Police said.

The driver was not injured, ISP police said. Further details about what happened before the roll-over were not known.

The fire had been extinguished by 3:30 a.m., but the two right lanes on eastbound I-90 near the scene were still closed, ISP said. All lanes had been closed until roughly 1:50 a.m.
