Rep. Rodney Davis was named as a member of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s newly-announced Agricultural Advisory Committee Tuesday. Davis represents Illinois’ 13th congressional district, which covers portions of central and southwestern Illinois.
According to a release issued by Trump’s campaign, the committee will aim to provide new ideas to strengthen America’s agricultural industry and support rural communities. The board’s formation represents the billionaire’s “endorsement of these individuals’ diverse skill sets and ideas that can improve the lives of those in agricultural communities."
“The members of my agricultural advisory committee represent the best that America can offer to help serve agricultural communities,” Trump said in a statement. “Many of these officials have been elected by their communities to solve the issues that impact our rural areas every day.”
“I’m very proud to stand with these men and women, and look forward to serving those who serve all Americans from the White House,” Trump added.
The executive board members will reportedly meet on a regular basis. Other members of the advisory board include former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts. Ricketts currently sits on the board for the Chicago Cubs. The Ricketts family acquired a 95 percent controlling interest of the Cubs and Wrigley Field in 2009.
