A man was arrested at Midway International Airport Thursday after authorities discovered a loaded firearm in his carry-on, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
David Comiskey, 45, was charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm in an airport, according to Chicago police.
Around 5:30 a.m., officers discovered the weapon in Comiskey's carry-on luggage during the screening at a security checkpoint, the TSA said in a release.
TSA officers notified local police, who confiscated the .380 caliber Sig Sauer and interviewed Comiskey, who is from suburban Saint Charles and was headed to Kansas City.
Thursday’s incident marked the 10th time a firearm has been discovered in carry-on luggage at Midway Airport, authorities said.
In 2016, TSA officers found 16 guns at Midway and more than 3,390 at airport security checkpoints across the country.
Officials said 21 firearms have been found at O’Hare International Airport so far this year.

Travelers who bring weapons to airports are referred to local law enforcement, according the TSA, which also imposes fines of up to $7,000 for a violation of a firearm brought to a security checkpoint.
