Video Appears to Show Truck Run Over Motorcycle in Alleged Aurora Road Rage Incident

Punches were thrown, vehicles damaged and several people had different accounts of what happened when a large group of motorcyclists chased after an irate driver they claim drove over several motorcycles in an alleged road-rage incident all caught on camera.

Hundreds of riders took to the streets of Aurora for the annual Formation Ride, which brings stunt riders and motorcyclists from all over the Midwest. One of the group's co-founder claims the driver shown in the video, in a case of road rage, antagonized the motorcyclists.

“That this truck was following the Formation Ride, he wasn’t trying to get around the formation, he was antagonizing the riders,” a spokesperson for Chicago United Riders said. “It was road rage 100 percent on the trucker’s part. Instead of trying to get out of way, he was following the riders even as they turned numerous times.”

The spokesperson said two of his riders suffered minor injuries and three or four bikes were damaged.

The driver, 44-year-old Joe Hernandez says he was the victim after a motorcyclist kicked his truck.

“I was catching up with the guy on the dirt bike to get his plate, because that’s what did this, by kicking my truck,” Hernandez said. “To avoid any serious injuries I ended up leaving through (the) grass again. We’re riders, too. The last thing you ever want to see in your life is a person or motorcycle under your vehicle.”

Hernandez also said one of the motorcyclists cut off a police officer and showed blatant disregard for the law.

Police say a motorcycle was run over during the ordeal and backed up Hernandez’s version of events.

Police also said they saw motorcyclists driving recklessly and disobeying traffic signals. When one officer tried to get riders to slow down, police say he was cut off by a bike, as the group passed the squad car.
