After declaring a disaster proclamation in Illinois - the state's version of a state of emergency - on Monday, March 9, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced plans to hold a daily briefing on the developing coronavirus situation.
On May 29, Pritzker said he would end daily briefings and replace them with "briefings specifically dedicated to COVID-19 only on an as-needed basis."

With the state of Illinois set to move forward into Phase Three of the “Restore Illinois” plan this week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker says that despite reopening more portions of the state’s economy, coronavirus case numbers and hospitalizations are continuing to trend in the right direction.
With much of Illinois just days away from the next phase of reopening, Dr. Ngozi Ezike announced more than 1,100 new coronavirus cases and 39 additional deaths.
