The Chicago White Sox have acquired two bullpen arms in a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals on Thursday.

The White Sox acquired pitchers Luis Avilan and Joakim Soria, the team announced in a press release. The Sox will also get cash considerations as part of the deal, according to the team.

“This deal provides us with additional late inning options as we look to solidify our bullpen,” White Sox G.M. Rick Hahn said. “Both Avilan and Soria provide us with veteran depth and enhanced flexibility moving forward.”

In exchange, the White Sox sent minor league outfielder Jake Peter to the Dodgers. Peter batted .279 with 13 home runs and 49 RBI in 120 games at the minor league level last season.

Soria was originally sent to the Dodgers in a trade with the Royals, which also sent Scott Alexander to the West Coast. The Royals got infielder Erick Meija and right-handed pitcher Trevor Oaks in that swap.

Soria is under contract for the 2018 season, where he will be owed $9 million. He has a $10 million team option for the 2019 season that comes with a $1 million buyout. Avilan is an arbitration eligible player who made $1.5 million last season.
