The Chicago White Sox game against the Los Angeles Angels Sunday went into a rain delay, the team announced.
The game went into delay in the bottom of the seventh inning, with the score tied 2-2 , after the National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Illinois and Indiana.

Those warnings have expired, but the field was heavily saturated as winds prevented grounds crew members from getting the tarp completely over the infield.
The Angels do not come back to Chicago this season, with the Cubs heading to the West Coast for a series in late August.
The game has now started again, after the grounds crew evaluated the field.
NBC 5 is continuing to monitor weather conditions and providing updates.
